September 22, 1942 - November 30, 2020
Lawrence T. Quinn (Labhrás), 78 of Riverhead, NY passed away on November 30th, 2020. Larry was born in Queens, New York and attended Power Memorial High School. He attended St. John’s University before joining the New York City Police Department. He started as a patrolman, was promoted to Sergeant, and finished his career as a Lieutenant in Special Operations Division after 30 years of service. His passions were gardening, drawing, calligraphy, the Irish language and being the “life of the party”. He loved to pull up a chair, grab a beer and share his many stories of growing up in Queens, NY, his days as a police officer and bragging about his family. Annual trips to Ocean City, NJ for 50 years were some of the highlights of his life, especially times with the grandchildren making sand castles, and eating French fries and Preps Pizza. His love of family and storytelling amongst other things will be desperately missed. He left an incredible impact on so many of the lives he touched from near and far. He is survived by his loving wife Carol of 57 years; his four daughters: Karen Doherty (Bill) of Mansfield, MA, Michelle Stickle (Tom) of St. James, NY, Joanne Walker (Chris) of Stony Brook, NY, and Kathleen Gillen (Patrick) of Nesconset, NY; and 11 grandchildren: Timothy, Noelle, Emma, Kevin, Sean, Olivia, Gabrielle, Danielle, James, Molly and Aidan. He is survived by his younger brother Terence Quinn of Manhasset, and the late William Quinn.
