Raymond George Frankie

January 23, 1946 - January 4, 2022

Raymond George Frankie of Kings Park, NY, was a truly good and decent man, who dedicated his life to making the lives of those around him better. He served his family, country and community faithfully, dutifully and tirelessly throughout his life. He died on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at the age of 75. His loss will be felt deeply by many. He was a dedicated and loving husband to Diane, who he built a beautiful life with over the last 58 years. He will be deeply missed by his granddaughter Hailey, his three children—Raymond, Diane and Christopher—his daughter-in-law Rhea and son-in-law Jerry, and canine companion Ubu. Son to John and Helen Frankie, Ray is one of 11 children and is survived brothers Kenneth and James, as well as sisters Helen, Margaret (Peggy), Patricia (Patty), Joanne (Joanie) and Arlene. Raymond was also a proud uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and friend to so many. Raymond served his country in combat as a proud Marine. He was a labor-rights advocate and a Teamster. As a Shop Steward, he defended the rights of his coworkers at UPS, where he worked for more than 40 years, against management overreach. He was a dedicated Mets and Steelers fan and loved real and toy trains. In retirement, he volunteered at the Train Museum in Riverhead, where he made many friends. But more than anything, Raymond had a deep love for his family and made sure to show up for them every single day. He was generous in many ways, but especially with the most precious gift: his time. Whether it was a special occasion, holiday, or just a regular afternoon, he showed he cared in big ways and small. No matter how tired, he made sure to attend every event and was the one cheering the loudest for his granddaughter and children at sports competitions, graduations and concerts. He died the same way he lived his life—as a fighter. Despite being dealt a tough hand the last few years of his life, he forged ahead to give the ones he loved the most time together. He had a gift for finding ways to have happy moments amid difficult circumstances and to keep his loved ones together. Raymond will be laid to rest with military honors at Calverton Cemetery on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 1:30 PM. All are welcome to join to pay their respects and say goodbye. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you support something was passionate about by making a donation to The Railroad Museum of Long Island, or even go visit once it is open for the season in April. It will help keep his memory alive. The donation button is on the right side of the website: Visiting Us – Railroad Museum of Long Island. https://rmli.org/
