Lake Ronkonkoma, NY - Violette Israel Guillaume Grandoit 79, a long-time resident of the Brooklyn NY area died, on Sunday December 13, 2020, at Stony Brook University Hospital, in Stony Brook, NY. She was born on June 15, 1941, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to Raphael Israel and Therese Odne Paul. ● Violette is survived, by her three loving sons: Ernst Guillaume and wife Judith Raymond Guillaume; Frantz Guillaume and wife Myrlande Guillaume and Georges Guillaume and wife Marie Danielle Guillaume, her grandchildren Geordanie Guillaume, Mackenzie Georges, Jude Ernst Guillaume, Roserline Guillaume, Darline V. Guillaume, Francesca M. Guillaume; her sisters Claudette Israel, Jocelyne Jean-Louis, Edith Israel , Kettelie Israel, Micheline and Marjorie Israel and her brothers Yvon Israel, Bonito Israel, Emmanuel, and Jovin Israel; her nieces and nephews Hermione W. Mompoint, Wilmercia W. Fontaine. Betty Georges, Evans Israel, Marlo Bernavil, James Livingston Dorval, Wilhem Bernavil, Sherley Israel, Wilza Breau. Daphney Israel, Jeffrey Israel, Wilbur St. Surin, Claudia Israel, Ralph Israel, and by her loving cousins, her loving relatives and by the loving community of friends in Haiti and New York. Violette’s family brought great joy to her later years, especially her loving nieces Wilmercia W. Fontaine and Wilza Breau who cared for her in the final months of her life. She was preceded in death by her first husband Balthazar Guillaume, her second husband Fritz Grandoit, her first daughter Marlene Guillaume, in August 2020; her brothers Edouard Paul and Jean Claude Israel; and her sister Gisele Israel. Violette grew up in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She completed her primary studies and received her Brevet Superieur at Caroline Chevaux, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She was an avid learner who continued her education and obtained a diploma in Bakery at Ecole Anne-Marie Desvarieux. She was a devoted Christian and was an active member of the Cathedral de Port-au-Prince church, Eglise Perpetuel Secours, and Immaculee Conception, in Port-au-Prince Haiti. She moved to Brooklyn NY in 2009, and attended Holly Cross Church in Brooklyn, NY. Following her graduation, she met Balthazar Guillaume whom she married in 1957 and Fritz Grandoit in 2010. Four children were born from the first union. After her second marriage, the couple lived in Brooklyn NY that became their family home. In 2016 Fritz Grandoit died and Violette stayed by herself in Brooklyn. In August 2020 after the lost of her older Daughter Marlene, one of her nieces decided to take her home with her for better care in Lake Ronkonkoma NY. Violette devoted much of her time and energy to her children, her family and worked with various charities. She enjoyed music and speaking to family and friends. She spent long hours on the phone every day with her lovely sister Claudette, who she also baptized one of her children. Her other interests included baking. She contributed to the lives of many. Violette loved good food and socializing. She was a devoted Christian who spent her time helping people around her and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. She will be greatly missed. The FIVES Funeral Home, located at 31 Landing Avenue, Smithtown NY 11787, has been entrusted with arrangements. A viewing will be held on the 28th of December, 2020 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, and will be followed by a Funeral Mass at St Anne Catholic Church located at 88 2nd Avenue, Brentwood NY 11717. Burial will follow immediately after the mass, at St. Charles Cemetery located at 2015 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale NY 11735.
